The Asylum Chapel Wedding Photography

After learning about The Asylum Chapel and its history and unique backdrop for wedding photography, I was super-thrilled to be asked to be Jessica and Richard’s asylum chapel wedding photographer.

The Asylum Chapel, situated a short walk away from Peckham’s Queens Road Overground, is a breathtaking example of a wedding venue with stained glass windows, a high Georgian ceiling and a crumbling facade. For couples looking for a truly unique intimate and atmospheric location for their wedding and wedding photography this is the one for you!

History of The Asylum Chapel

Despite its name, The Asylum Chapel was not an actual psychiatric facility. Back in its day the word ‘asylum’ actually meant ‘sanctuary’ and was a home for elderly retired pub landllords. More like an almhouse which were important places for those Georgian and Victorian eldery who’s only alternative was the street.

The Asylum Chapel was established around 1827 and had many benefactors, whose memorials are still there, visible to this day. Despite being heavily bombed during the second world war, the carvings and glass stained windows survive to this day and The Asylum Chapel after some refurbishments, had been granted Grade II status.

And thanks to Maverick Projects the asylum chapel is available for events, art projects and weddings.

Francesca and Nicholas' Wedding Photography | Tower Hamlets Register Office | Shadwell

Francesca and Nicholas approached me last year to be their wedding photographer for their wedding in Cyprus in May. However a few weeks ago they decided they needed a wedding photographer for a small register office wedding they were going to have here in the UK so that their elderly grandparents, who are unable to fly to Cyprus, to attend. Their civil ceremony took place at Tower Hamlets Register Office which can be found in St George’s Town Hall in Shadwell, just one stop away from Bank Underground Station on the DLR.

Tower Hamlets Register Office has the most beautiful bright, light and airy room for marriages, and a gorgeous little interview room with an awesome ‘Happy Ever After’ sign. Perfect for wedding photography!

Lambeth Town Hall Wedding Photography | Christine Constantine Photography

Lambeth Town Hall is based on my doorstep in Brixton, South London. A vibrant and multicultural part of London, Brixton will always have a special place in my heart, having lived here for over four years back in the early noughties. With its history, art and culture with the coolest bars and restaurants with which to cater a small wedding breakfast/reception, Lambeth Town Hall register office is a popular choice for young couples living in Brixton and surrounding areas, wishing to tie the knot.

Being a Brixton wedding photographer who still lives locally it is an absolute joy to come here, which still remains home-from-home to me.

Here are a selection of my favourite wedding images taken in and behind the town hall in Brixton.

Lambeth Town Hall Wedding Photography

Why choose Lambeth Town Hall in Brixton for your wedding? There is a enclosed space behind Lambeth Town Hall which is a great spot for some intimate wedding photography, and doesnt take too long as it is literally outside the building. A few interesting backdrops give couples who are short of time an extra selection of cool wedding photography.

Lambeth Town Hall boasts 9 wedding ceremony rooms altogether; with differing sizes and aesthetics there will certainly be one to suit your needs. To date I have photographed weddings in The Circular Hall, The Olive Morris Suite and The Bowie Room..

This unique and opulent space within the Town Hall is a showcase to the stunning Edwardian architecture of its build period of 1908.

Circular Hall is a stunning circular area beneath the clock tower. A popular place for your wedding AND wedding photography as it boasts beautiful surroundings and views over Brixton.

Access into the room is via two surrounding staircases decorated with stunning imported green Sicilian marble. Check out these images below. A wedding photographers dream!

Lambeth Town Hall Register Office Wedding Photography - The Bowie Room

As Alice and Jo had a micro-wedding, all they needed was a small space in which to exchange their vows. And the intimate and beautifully decorated Bowie Room was perfect for this wedding. It is gorgeously decorated in hues of green and orange, along with a calming floral theme. The Bowie Room can seat 10 wedding guests.
