Aes Ambelis Winery: A Unique Wedding Reception Venue in Cyprus

Shooting wedding receptions in Aes Ambelis winery is a bit of a dream. Having shot a few when I lived in Cyprus it was incredible to return in the Spring of 2024 to shoot Francesca and Nicholas’ wedding party. With sweeping views of the surrounding hills and a vineyard to boot - Aes Ambelis is a popular choice for stylish couples who love a magical outdoor setting coupled with a fantastic selection of wines. An awesome and truly unique venue for your wedding photography.

Aes Ambelis is located approx 28km south of capital Nicosia and rests on the slopes of Kalo Chorio Orinis.

The entrance to Aes Ambelis Winery is lined with Cypress trees and the vineyard so you dont have far to go for your couples shoot. Moments away, closer to the actual winery, there is a large open space that can comfortably seat several hundred guests, plus a stage area for your DJ/live musicians and dancefloor.

Tiny Moments, Big Feelings: Standout Memories from Weddings 2024

Compiling some of your favourite wedding moments from 2024 was never going to be an easy task. How do you even begin? Literally EVERY single wedding I’ve been a part of has had its incredible moments. I could write an entire book on it: the laughter, the tears, the funny bits, the drop-dead gorgeous aesthetics and all the nuance of the day as a wedding photographer I notice.

But who the hell has got time to read a book? So here goes - SOME of my standout moments of 2024...

The Almost-Dropped Bride

Doing a bridal toss with a petite bride and four strapping lads was surely never going to be a problem. Or was it? But a windy day or perhaps an inability to grasp the basic laws of physics, resulted in an almost dropped bride.

The Celebratory Rum Shots

A spontaneous after-wedding photoshoot in Brixton ended with rum shots and a romantic first dance. All at one of their fave bar/restaurants in Brixton Market and courtesy of the owner. Happy days.

My Nephew-in-Law’s Walima

Being a part of my nephew-in-law’s wedding day and seeing him marry the most beautiful girl. I’ve known him since he was a little boy, so watching them together totally melted my heart.

A Cyprus Winery Wedding

The most beautiful couple in the most beautiful location. A trip to Larnaca in Cyprus followed by a photoshoot and their wedding reception at the STUNNING Aes Ambelis Winery up in the hills near Kalo Chorio, Cyprus. A twelve hour extravaganza of the most awesome friends and family you could possibly imagine. Want to see more? Check out all the happiness and the incredible views HERE.

Favourite Dressed Couple of 2024?

I think quite possible MY FAVE Bride and Groom outfit combo. And it was tough. Trust me.

Biggest Lump-In-The-Throat-Moment-at-a-Wedding

OMG this one had me welling up big time. I see this a lot and its one of my favourite micro-moments from the day. But this, combined with the day’s build up, was on another level. Way too many emotions for this Groom to contain -it was just the most moving thing. Entering the church with one big lump in my throat was not what I envisiged for this day! An incredible day from start to finish.

One of my fave ‘awww’ moments

Just LOVED capturing this little exchange between father and daughter as she walked up the aisle.

Burgers!

Just loved seeing this couple tucking into their wedding burgers. And what amazing burgers they were. I can totally attest to that.

Fave Wedding Venue?

I think this was def a stand out wedding venue. The shabby chic Asylum Chapel in Peckham and a memorable couple (who I also saw at their friends’ wedding later that year - how cool?) to top it all off. Check out the hilarity HERE.

The Boris Johnson Lookalike

‘Boris’ was only brought in on the day to mill around the guests. No one expected him to dance with them too. Loved it.

Best Wedding Procession

OMG literally the BEST wedding procession I have ever seen. This theatrical duo brought in legendary vintage band Grumpah to lead the way from the church to the reception venue. Literally stopping central London traffic and commuters in their tracks. If there was an Oscar for best wedding procession this would be it.

Best Wedding Sign

And who doesn’t like making-a-statement wedding signage? Cue Ritzy Cinema in Brixton. And very aptly just the spot where this awesome couple met for the first time. Memorable day - memorable couple.

Funniest Speech

The Bride reading a short extract from a short story she’d written about their dog. I’ve been known to well up with tears during a speech or two, but not crying with laughter. Honestly, one of those you had to be there moments. Bloody brilliant.

Check out their Brunswick House Wedding HERE.

Fave Confetti Moment

Loved this “No we’re all gonna hold up roses and shower you with bubbles instead of confetti” moments. So cool. Shot at London's iconic Chelsea Old Town Hall. See more HERE.

Standout Dancefloor Action

Arabic drumming and dancing took to the dancefloor to start this party off. SO GOOD. Kept everyone dancing for a long LONG time.

Iconic-as Wedding Venue

Getting a chance to shoot in iconic London landmark Tower of London was always gonna be a cool one. But for me personally totally surpassed by this amazing couple and their love for each other. AND their kids. AND their friends. Could def write a whole book about their wedding day. Just AMAZING from start to finish. And the bride’s daughter sang their first dance song. Doesn’t get more special than that.

MEG AND TIM”S WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

Standout Bridal Outfit

STAND OUT bridal wear. Nikeen Asar. One of my faves. Just stunning. See more Marylebone Weddings HERE.

Best Party Hands Down

ONE OF THE BEST PARTIES EVER. Katerina and Alec’s Wedding. What a total joy from start to finish. Live music AND DJs. SO MUCH FUN.

Standout Bridal Party

Now if you’re gonna spend all day out in the wilds of East Sussex, you’re gonna do it with this lot. Not only super-lovely standout couple of the year, but stand out ENTIRE WEDDING PARTY. Just wonderful wonderful people. Had a blast. Pangdean Old Barn Wedding.

Standout Dancing

Dancing at its finest was to be had when this Portugese/Scottish couple opted for a Scottish Ceilidh at their recent wedding party. Everyone was encouraged to take part and it was SO much fun. Check out more of the vibe HERE.

6 Reasons I love Shooting Weddings at Chelsea Old Town Hall

Wedding Photography at Chelsea Old Town Hall

Chelsea Old Town Hall is a popular wedding venue in London, known for its elegant and historic architecture and central location. I’ve been a wedding photographer there for quite some time now and here are some of the many reasons I love it so much..

1. Beautiful architecture: This Grade II building in Chelsea, is a stunning example of Victorian architecture, with intricate details and classic design features. It has been lovingly restored and provides a beautiful backdrop for your wedding photography. I always love shooting in building like this. I love looking at the many backgrounds and the quality of the window light coming through. I aim to capture and utilize as much of this as we possible can for your wedding photography.

2. Central location: Chelsea Old Town Hall is located in the heart of Chelsea, at the end of the Kings Road. Making it a convenient choice for couples and guests who are coming from different parts of London. There are also plenty of hotels for everyone to stay in and lots of cool pubs and restaurants nearby. Many of whom will gladly host your wedding lunch/reception. A popular choice is The Ivy, and who doesnt LOVE their Glasshouse situated in their fabolous garden? And as a London-based wedding photographer it’s also super easy and convenient for me to get to by public transport.

Beaufort House is also another popular choice of nearby venue in Chelsea, and they have a function room with its own bar upstairs you can hire for your wedding celebrations..

3. Variety of ceremony rooms: Chelsea Old Town Hall offers a range of ceremony rooms to choose from, each with its own unique style and character. Whether you're looking for a grand and opulent space or something more intimate and cozy, there's a room to suit your needs. Here are some images I shot recently in the Rossetti Room and The Brydon Room.

A lovely surprise awaited me the other day as I stepped inside The Rossetti Room. Its had a revamp and they’ve done an amazing job. Love it!

4. Experienced staff: The staff at Chelsea Old Town Hall are experienced in hosting weddings and will work with you to ensure that your day runs smoothly. The are SO friendly to wedding photographers, and very helpful and accomodating allowing us to take the best wedding photography possible. To brides and grooms to be, they can offer advice and guidance on everything from the ceremony format to the catering options. They have always been super helpful and friendly to me and one of the reasons I love coming back.

5. Flexibility: The venue is flexible in terms of the type of ceremony you can have, whether it's a civil ceremony, partnership, or renewal of vows. You can also choose to have a religious ceremony in one of the licensed rooms.

6. The Steps Outside: And finally the steps outside! The famous Chesea Old Town Hall steps!! A perfect place for your group shots. And just LOVE confetti shots here!!

The Iconic Steps outside Chelsea Old Town Hall

Overall, Chelsea Old Town Hall is an excellent choice for couples who are looking for a beautiful and historic wedding venue in central London, with experienced staff and a range of ceremony rooms to choose from. As a leading Chelsea wedding photographer let me capture your special day in this relaxed and very cool town hall.

Old Marylebone Town Hall Wedding Photographer

During my first wedding at Marylebone Town Hall as a wedding photographer I remember thinking oh wow! The staff were SO friendly and helpful and I LOVED the different areas where couples can have their wedding photography. I’ve included a selection below of some of the different rooms, the staircase outside and some photoshoot opportunities to think about in the nearby area. Oh and both posed and non-posed images to give you an idea, and hopefully some inspiration!.

The Old Marylebone Town Hall (also known as Marylebone Registry Office) was built on Marylebone road in London from 1914 to 1920, and is a grade II listed building. Its grand entrance, with its sweeping staircase, is decorated with columns inspired by classic Roman and Greek architecture. Which can make for some awesome wedding photography.

Amelia and Alex, the first couple in the images below, chose the Westminster Ceremony Room to have their wedding. It is the largest of the 7 register rooms and can comfortably fit 100 guests. It is ornately decorated with wooden wall panels and ceiling decorations. The natural light entering from the front facing windows beautifully lights up the couple as you can see from these photos..

The larger room at Old Marylebone Town Hall is perfect for larger wedding parties and can make for some effective moody lighting for wedding photographers..

Inside the Marylebone Room

Smaller but with TONS of classic features this wood-panelled room boasts an incredible fireplace and again warmer and more moodier lighting..

Wedding Photography inside the Paddington Room

The Paddington Room is Marylebone Town Hall’s smallest room and fits the couple plus maximum 8 guests. A dark room, it has a beautiful large carved fireplace and wood-panelled walls.

Wedding Photography inside the Pimlico Room

This room is a wedding photographers dream. Bright and airy the room also boasts a light marble fireplace feature and beautifully decorated with white flowers..

Wedding Photography in The Mayfair Room

Again just gorgeous for your bright and airy wedding photography!

Wedding Photography on the steps outside Marylebone Town Hall..

Marylebone Register Office has THE most iconic steps outside. Completeing your wedding photography in style..

Walking out of Marylebone Register Office you’ll find my favourite little nook as a wedding photographer - out of the way and an intimate spot with gorgeous natural light!

Wedding Photography behind Marylebone Town Hall

Directly behind Marylebone Town Hall, just one minute walk away, there exists the cutest little street lined with mews houses , cobbled streets and plants. Great for some post-wedding photography!

Regents Park Photoshoot

One of the great things about choosing Marylebone Town Hall as your register office is that you can have your couples’ photoshoot minutes away at Regents Park, if you were looking for additional wedding photography that reflects nature too..

Looking for a nearby pub? Try The Allsop Arms round the corner on Gloucester Place. A friendly pub with a warm welcome. Perfect hang out place for your guests before or after the wedding.

If you’re in need of a nice hotel walking distance to the town hall try popular The Landmark Hotel. A 5-star rated hotel with everything you would need to get ready in before your big day.

Wandsworth Town Hall Weddings: Capturing Modern Elegance in Wedding Photography

As a wedding photographer based in South London, Wandsworth Town Hall is just a hop, skip and a jump away from me. Wandsworth Town is the perfect register office for most South London-based couples as its conveniently located, has stunning classical architecture and a variety of wedding-friendly pubs and restaurants in the area. It also has nearby King George’s Park for those couples wanting a bit of nature in their wedding photography.

My job as a photographer on the day is to arrive 30 mins before the ceremony to take pics of the groom, family and friends as they turn up. Gives us time (weather-permitting) to make the most of the historic front of the building and the small landscaped garden area..

Wandsworth Town Hall Wedding Photography

Wandsworth Town Hall boasts 5 glorious ceremony rooms and here’s some info and pics for each one..

Wedding Photography in The Elizabeth Room

I’ve shot quite a few weddings in The Elizabeth Room over the last couple of years. One of the smaller rooms and a max capacity of only 10 people (including witnesses, photographer etc), The Elizabeth room is none-the-less small cozy and intimate. This is the one with the leather sofas! So all-round comfort for your guests. The fee varies from £58.30 to £181.50 depending on the day of the week and includes a simple, intimate ceremony and exchange of rings. You can even have your civil partnership here too.

Wedding Photography in The Victoria Room

The Victoria Room boasts a 25 person capacity. Here you can have a choice of ceremony, choice of music and a reading. Weddings cost £207.90 for a weekday and £228.80 on a Saturday.

Wedding Photography in The Alexandra Room

The Alexandra Room is a beautifully naturally-lit room so results in some awesome wedding photography. Here you can make personal vows, have a friend or family member do a reading and there is an aisle to walk down after your ceremomy. The prices here varies from £240.90 to £305.80 depending on the day.

Wedding Photography in The Grand Chamber

If your wedding party is on the large side - and Flo and Mike’s this summer was just that - this is the room for you. As the name suggests, the Grand Chamber is just that. A capacity of 100 people (again including photographer, guests, witnesses etc) it is an opulant and very super impressive for your wedding photography. Price here for a wedding is £446.60 for a weekday and £588.50 on a Saturday.

Post-Wedding Photoshoot ideas..

Wandsworth Town Hall has the most gorgeous marble staircase and conveniently located on the way out!

After exciting there is ample time for friends and family to gather for confetti on the steps out the back of Wandsworth Town Hall and lots more natural wedding photography..

Leaving the Town Hall and we can wander to the park or go straight to the pub! Monika and Connor opted for a small wedding celebration at The Brewers Inn literally opposite!
